A joint commission was undertaken by Medical Architecture and SS L to make proposals for a generic diagnostic and treatment centre.
The purpose of the DTC is to provide an efficiently planned and managed elective diagnostic and treatment service in an appropriately designed facility. The primary aim is to reduce the number of visits a patient requires for their diagnosis and treatment. The facility will be organised to ensure that the patient experience is of the highest quality.
The activities of the DTC were identified and arranged into four primary zones:
- Main entrance comprising reception, scheduling and waiting areas.
- Consulting and Diagnostic Imaging Suites – 'One Stop Shops'.
- Intervention and Recovery Suite.
- Staff Facilities and a Training and Education suite
