The 30 bed low secure unit at the Rathbone Hospital was conceived under Procure 21 and planned with the majority of the accommodation on the ground floor within a single storey construction, with a smaller two-storey element containing office accommodation.

The unit is divided into two 15 bed inpatient wings, each arranged around secure courtyard spaces. The two wings come together in a common activity centre; Easy Street, a two storey high space with activity and therapy rooms, gym and cafe giving frontage onto the street. Large sculptural roof-lights in combination with areas of high level clerestory glazing provide generous lighting levels to the street.
